The AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D is the new fastest kid on the block and the best CPU for pure gaming. Not only is the 7800X3D built for gaming, but it's also a lot cheaper than AMD's current flagship Ryzen 9 7950X3D.

The $449/£439 eight-core Ryzen 7 7800X3D is $250 cheaper than the $699 16-core, 32-thread Ryzen 9 7950X3D, and yet it comes out faster in some of our games testing, making it a much wiser purchase choice if you're going to be using it primarily for a gaming PC. The big negative of going AM5 at the moment though is the cost of adopting the new platform, and that's also pointed out in our review of the Ryzen 7 7800X3D.

With its significant L3 cache of 96MB via a 3D-stacked chiplet, the 7800X3D is able to outperform the Intel Core i9-13900K flagship by around 12% on average in most games tested and even up to a staggering 40% in some titles.

That's a 3rd party seller using the Amazon market place. There's always a few sellers that try and charge stupid prices for newly released hardware. There currently is no listing for one sold by Amazon. Newegg has them at MSRP.

€600 on Europe's biggest hardware retailer, LDLC.

    Way too high imo.

But the main reason none of my friends are upgrading their PC is not even the price, it's just that PC games have been so bad lately.

You know what is outselling all PC hardware on LDLC? The Nintendo Switch.

A few days ago Nintendo released a Youtube video on Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. After a few hours, the video had 6 million views and 20,000+ comments.

You can talk all about FPS and 4k and raytracing and chip performance...you need actual games for people to get excited about. And those games are severely lacking on PC with bad port after bad port.

Console always outsells PC for gaming. The irony is that console games are often developed on PCs or devkits that are more PC like than consoles and the PC ports of these games are as you say, crap. The thing is that the library of games for PC will almost certainly be bigger than any one family of consoles. Emulators also exist for PC. I am personally not a big fan of super basic games like Zelda, but you are definitely correct that game franchises like these sell consoles like coffee on a cold Monday morning.
